Mahi Mahi (Dorado): These acrobatic beauties are a summertime favorite. Known for their vibrant colors and hard-fighting spirit, mahi can grow up to 30 pounds in our waters. They love to chase baits on the surface, so be ready for some exciting strikes and spectacular aerial displays when you hook one.
Wahoo: Speed demons of the sea, wahoo are like underwater rockets. They're most abundant in the cooler months, and when they hit, hold on tight! These streamlined predators can top 100 pounds and will make your drag scream. Trolling is the name of the game for these bad boys.
Red Snapper: These tasty bottom-dwellers are the prize of many a reef fishing trip. Found year-round, but with peak seasons in summer and fall, red snappers put up a great fight and make for some fine eating. We'll drop baits near structure and get ready for that distinctive 'thump' when they bite.
Black Grouper: Hefty and hard-pulling, black groupers are the heavyweight champs of the reef. These ambush predators love to hole up in rocky areas and wrecks. Late spring through fall is prime time to target them. Be ready to put your back into it when you're reeling one up from the depths!
Skipjack Tuna: Don't let their smaller size fool you - these cousins to the mighty bluefin fight like fish twice their size. We often find them in schools, which means multiple hookups and non-stop action. They're around most of the year but really show up in force during the warmer months.
Look, there's fishing, and then there's FISHING. This trip? It's the real deal. We're talking about the kind of day where you come back sun-kissed, arms a little sore, and grinning from ear to ear. Whether you're out to fill the freezer or just want to tangle with some hard-fighting fish, Sun & Sand Charters has got your ticket to offshore action. Don't let another season slip by - grab your spot on the boat and let's make some fishing memories!

Black grouper are the bruisers of the reef, capable of reaching 100+ pounds. Most we catch run 20-40 pounds though. Look for them around ledges, wrecks and deep reefs in 60-250 feet of water. They're ambush predators, so fishing structure is key. Cooler months are often best as they move shallower. Anglers love the powerful, bulldogging fight when a big grouper tries to dive back to its hole. The thick white fillets are also a real treat. To target groupers, we'll use heavy tackle and drop large live baits like blue runners or pinfish to the bottom. Be ready for a battle of power and patience. Here's a local trick: when you feel the bite, reel down fast and lift hard to pull them away from the structure. If you give them an inch, they'll take a mile and break you off!

Mahi Mahi are one of the most exciting fish to catch off West Palm Beach. These colorful fighters typically run 15-30 pounds but can reach over 60. Look for them near floating debris or weed lines, especially in summer. They're fast swimmers that put up an acrobatic fight, leaping and tail-walking across the water. The meat is delicious too - mild and slightly sweet. To boost your chances, troll with ballyhoo or squid near the surface. When you spot a school, cast live bait like pilchards or goggle eyes. Mahi often travel in pairs or small groups, so be ready for multiple hookups. Once you land one, keep it in the water to attract others. The vibrant colors fade quickly after death, so snap a photo fast if you want to capture that electric blue and gold.

Red snapper are the crown jewels of bottom fishing around here. These ruby-red beauties average 5-10 pounds but can reach over 30. You'll find them hanging around reefs, wrecks and other structure in 60-300 feet of water. Summer is prime time when they move closer to shore. Anglers love the powerful initial run when a big snapper hits - it's like hooking a freight train! The brilliant color and firm, white flesh make them a favorite for photos and the dinner table too. To target snapper, we'll anchor up and drop baits to the bottom. Squid, cigar minnows, and live pinfish all work well. Use circle hooks to improve hookups and release deeper fish. Here's a pro tip: when you feel that telltale tap-tap, reel down quickly and set the hook hard. These guys have tough mouths!

Skipjack tuna are the speedsters of the tuna family, usually running 5-20 pounds. These little rockets are often found in big schools, chasing bait near the surface. We typically find them 10-30 miles offshore, especially around temperature breaks or current edges. Spring and fall are prime seasons as they migrate through. Anglers love the fast-paced action - when a school is up, it's non-stop casting and reeling. While not the biggest game fish, they put up a great fight on light tackle. To target skipjacks, we'll look for bird activity or surface commotion. Then it's time to cast small lures or flies into the frenzy. Here's a pro tip: use a fast retrieve to trigger their competitive instinct. These guys will race each other to hit your lure!

Wahoo are the speedsters of the ocean, capable of bursts up to 60 mph. These sleek, striped fish average 3-5 feet long but can top 8 feet and 180 pounds. We usually find them in deep blue water beyond the reef, often near temperature breaks or current edges. Spring and fall are prime wahoo seasons here. Anglers love the screaming runs when a wahoo hits - hang on tight! The white, flaky meat is also prized for its delicate flavor. To target wahoo, we'll high-speed troll at 12-15 knots using wire leaders and lures like bulletheads or jet heads. The key is covering lots of water. Once we hook up, be ready for the fight of your life as these fish make blistering runs and will often go airborne. Quick tip: use circle hooks to improve hookup ratios on these toothy speedsters.
